Claudio Sandoval, M.D.
Graduated from New York Medical College and completed pediatric residency at Schneider Children’s Hospital and pediatric hematology-oncology fellowship at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. I was a pediatric hematologist- oncologist for 30 years, and now I am Director, Scientific & Medical Affairs- Hematology, Octapharma USA.

Suzi Greer BSN, RN, SCS
Suzi has been a RN for 35 years obtaining her undergraduate degree from Illinois State University. She has previous experience working in Obstetrics, Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, Bleeding Conditions and Thrombophilia. She has had the pleasure and honor of being in the bleeding conditions community and care for 21 years. 5 years as the Nurse Coordinator, at the Comprehensive Bleeding Disorders Center in Peoria, IL educating, advocating, and caring for people with bleeding conditions. The past 16 years she has worked with Takeda as a Senior Clinical Specialist providing and supporting bleeding condition education and advocacy. She belongs to the National Hemophilia Foundation, Hemophilia Federation of America, World Federation of Hemophilia and International Society of Thrombosis and Hemostasis.

Kevin Harris
Kevin is a Certified Nutrition Coach, fitness enthusiast, teen program director, and hemophilia B patient. He has a deep passion for helping people with their journey towards wellness and has been giving empowerment speeches to the bleeding disorder community for the last six years. Kevin strives to enable individuals with chronic conditions to keep a positive outlook and remember that their choices can improve their overall quality of life.

Kim Baumann, PT, MPT
Kim Baumann is a physical therapist for the Center for Bleeding and Clotting Disorders at M Health, Fairview in Minneapolis, MN. Kim earned her BS in Biology and Psychology from the University of Minnesota and her Masters in Physical Therapy from St. Catherine University in St. Paul, Minnesota. She has been treating people with hemophilia and related bleeding disorders for the past 20 years. Kim is involved in the care of both inpatients and outpatients, she participates in research studies and acts as a bleeding disorders resource to hospital staff and community physical therapists. She has contributed locally to the bleeding disorders community through her involvement with the local foundation’s annual meetings, family retreats, hemophilia camp,
women’s retreats, blood brotherhood events and family fitness events as well as providing education to local college students and hospital staff. Kim's Session:

Jesse S.
Jesse never accepted anything at face value, including his bleeding disorder. In grade school, he fell in love with baseball and decided to prove he could play while managing his hemophilia. He went on to play professional baseball in independent leagues. Today he inspires young and old to not let their bleeding disorder hold them back and to always follow their dreams. He also works one-on-one with sports-minded kids and teens through the Gettin’ in the Game program.

Cathy Tiggs, MSSA, LISW
Cathy M. Tiggs is a pediatric and adult clinical social worker at the University Hospitals of Cleveland Hemostasis & Thrombosis Center (HTC). She received her Master’s in Social Science Administration from Case Western Reserve University and is licensed to practice in the state of Ohio. Cathy joined the HTC in 2006 and has worked with the multidisciplinary team there to provide support and services to their families. Cathy is very active in the bleeding disorders community and travels across the United States creating and participating in family and provider workshops. She has served on several National Hemophilia Foundation (NHF) committees, and served 2 years as co-chair for the NHF annual bleeding disorders meeting. For the past 30 years, Cathy has spent her spare time leading a team of trainers at Tiggs Training & Consulting Group. As an educator, she works with public, private and non-profit agencies in the area of strategic planning, staff training and leadership development. Cathy’s best times are spent with her 2 children, 3 grandchildren and “Duke” the German Shepherd.

Melissa Farias
Melissa has over twenty years in healthcare, sixteen of them as a Registered Nurse. She started her career in Bleeding Disorders in 2008 with Coram Infusion Services as an Infusion nurse. She worked on the Hemophilia team teaching and infusing patients with bleeding disorders. Her experience as a Registered Nurse began at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, NM in Pediatrics, the Emergency Room and in General Medicine. She felt that this best served her son’s needs as a severe Hemophilia A patient. His birth changed the course of Melissa’s career for the best. She enjoys her career and feels that she is right where she belongs educating anyone willing to learn about bleeding disorders.

Gilbert Russell
Gilbert has been a Patient Care Advocate with ASAP Pharmacy in Orland Park, IL for the past 16 years. He is a servant at heart whose greatest claim to fame is his love for people. He is a speaker, teacher, counselor and encourager.

What is prophy?
“Prophy” or prophylaxis is treatment administered as a prevention. It is critical for people with a bleeding disorder to treat preventatively to avoid joint disease.
What is Prophy Conference?
Consistency in prophy treatment is difficult but is extremely important and necessary to be healthy and increase your quality of life. This conference is designed for patients and caregivers to get excited about prophy and reignite the fire to remain consistent in their treatment. We will have some of the leading physicians and nurse educators from around the country speaking on topics in breakout and general sessions, presented in a fun and interactive way.
